“SNOOZE YOU LOSE”
A phrase used in my household when it came to the last piece of chocolate, hot water, food, being first at something or doing something fun. Like this hypothetical scenario;
Waking up in the morning to find no one home so you call your family to see where they are and find that they’ve decided to have a “family” day out doing all kinds of “family” fun stuff without I don’t know…you!! So you message your friends to hang out just so you can have 10 times more fun than your family but your friends dont answer so you lock yourself in your room, post a status with only a sad face on Facebook and blast MCR whilst writing hate entries in your journal.
Speaking hypothetically still…give us a sec..(*cries in the corner*)
Ahahahaha, I’m kidding!
It has only just dawned on me that this phrase carries a deeper meaning and is very relevant to life. How?
Think about the many things you’ve dreamed, wished, prayed, hoped or pencilled in for a later date. If the overrated, overused word by teenagers/clowns around the world that is YOLO could teach us anything it would be that we have one life and it must be lived to the FULLEST!!! (shout out to the 90’s ;)
I remember back in my High School years I attended a local Youth movement. The Youth Pastor was preaching that night and was going great guns as usual. He then put a question out to the crowd, “where is the richest place on earth?”. America one answered, Middle East some shouted, China or Australia others would say. My Youth Pastor shook his head to every answer which left us confused.
Then where? He finally told us by revealing a picture of a graveyard.
He went on to say that the reason why the graveyard is the richest place on earth is because in it lies bestselling books that had never been written, songs that were never sung, ideas that were never created, multimillion dollar businesses that could’ve changed the world, cures to diseases that could’ve been found and dreams that have now been forgotten.
This is why the graveyard is the richest place on earth.
(*glass shattering in my young mind lol***)
Till this day I have never forgotten that message and the importance of living a life with purpose. To live a life that’s beyond average, against the current, explosively impacting and worth living.
I want to sign out of earth knowing that I had truly lived and loved every minute of life.
So I challenge you, Don’t wait for time cause time won’t wait for you. This includes your bucket list and Before I reach.. lists. If you’re unhappy or bored with life wake up from the day to day routine and switch it up.
From the little; bake a cake, see a sunrise on the beach, try new foods, actually make something you repined on Pinterest, attend a concert or say the words I love you to your loved ones just because you can!
To the big; bungee jump in New Zealand, sky dive in Sydney, travel to Europe, marry your partner you’ve been with for yonks, go in a shark cage or fist pump with Pauly D.
Snooze you lose also applies to those who sit on the sidelines of life wasting away. The pure laziness, deck full of excuse cards, handout living, professional procrastinator folk who are more than capable to make a living for themselves but choose not to.
Wake up already!
We all have something to contribute to the world, to a person or to you. Coming from a background just like this, what I’ve learnt is that having a big dream whilst riding in the snooze wagon will always remain a dream and eventually head to a lost road.
Awkward moment when you wake up from the slumber of everything that has ever held you back to finally LIVE but unfortunately you’ve reached the point of having to sleep permanently. Not only is it awkward but it is sad.
Some say we don’t have enough time or too busy but we are all given the same 24 hours a day.
Manage your time well and live!
AWAKE I WIN
